This message was written by Omar Martin and I feel this is something everyone needs to know.

This discovery is actually kind of sad but it shines the light on why the majority of people fail to ever make big money online. Generally speaking, people either just fail to see what it takes or just aren’t willing to do it. I think most people just want things handed to them or they keep waiting for their “ship to come in”. They don’t swim out to meet it.

I conducted a social experiment to find out who was serious about making money with their online business.

I asked… “How much money do you think John and I can make you in one week if we promoted your product.” You can view the post here.

Suddenly – people jumped in from everywhere raising there hands “Me Me Me – promote for me me me – you’ll generate THOUSANDS” – some even said tens of thousands and a few said 6 figures. That’s how confident they are.

Well guess what – John and I are in fact able to generate tens of thousands of dollars in a week promoting your product or much MORE. We can even help you set it up properly to ensure it converts well. AND WE ARE PREPARED TO DO IT. We don’t play games, making money online is what we do and we’re very good at it.

Not to boast but rather to make a point about our affiliate marketing strategies… this year alone we’ve made over a quarter of a million dollars FOR OTHER PEOPLE by promoting their products. These aren’t vague estimates or inflated “marketer math” numbers. You may remember some of the top leader boards that we dominated this year…

Easy Video Suite – $108k in sales

Video Genesis – $24k in sales

Optimize Press 2.0 – $44k in sales

(There are many more but those were a few of the big ones you might recognize)

Here’s where the experiment got good…

We are currently offering a bonus with an ESTIMATED value of $50k. The bonus INCLUDES a full promotion from John and myself in addition to coaching and a variety of other goods from us including a live workshop in Orlando Florida.

It costs only $297 to buy iMotion Video and get our bonus.

In essence, these “marketers” that spoke out on the thread can get John and Myself to promote their product for a full week – in exchange for a $297 purchase.

Now one would think that a real business person would see this as a HUGE opportunity and DO WHATEVER IT TAKES to snatch it up while they can. Particularly those business people that confidently posted on the thread how we would generate 5 or even 6 figures for them by promoting their product.

I mean… a promo of even just 4 figures in exchange for a $297 investment is kind of a no brainer right? The answer is YES. It is a no brainer for a true business person. For a real marketer that understands the power of having 2 super affiliates promote for you and all the doors that this one promotion can open.

Marketers love to envision success but they’re afraid to create it.

The sad part is that the moment this whole experiment crosses the realm of “just another post on Facebook” to becoming reality and requiring the marketer to take action… they start doubting themselves. They start hesitating, they become their own worst enemy. They move on and continue searching for their “big lucky break” instead of realizing that its right in front of their face.

Some people just get in their own way while others couldn’t recognize opportunity if it smacked them right between the eyeballs.

My conclusion from this little experiment is that MOST people talk a lot of hype when it comes to their online business. They have big goals and aspirations but when the rubber meets the road they simply lack the conviction to ever achieve greatness. Very few will do what it takes and FIND a way to seize the opportunities in front of them. The few that do, change the world. They personify greatness.

After all PLR is PLR isn’t it? In most respects that is true, but when you look at the changing market around you and how you can use PLR to your advantage you may be shocked to discover there have been so many changes to the ways you can profit from PLR.

In this post I would like to take a look at some of the ways we may be overlooking when it comes to using PLR, not just to make a profit, but drive traffic and position ourselves as an expert in our niche; even when we don’t really have any skills in that particular field.

How is this possible Dan you may be asking?

It’s simple….

You see, Private Label Rights Material is perfect for positioning yourself in such a way so you can become an expert in any niche without being an expert! This is done by leveraging two basic things:

1. Content
2. Social Media

No more old school PLR techniques here, check this out. Imagine you have a bunch of top quality PLR and you have done the basics with it such as:

Sold the eBook stand alone

Split the eBook into articles

Add the articles to your blog

Used it as a giveaway

Now all these are great ways to syndicate your content and get the most from PLR, but this is nothing new. People have been doing this for years. But what is new is how you can leverage social media and drive traffic back to your businesses.

Try this for size.

Lets say you have a bunch of PLR material including, an eBook, articles, graphics etc. Is there a way you can create a business and leverage traffic to an offer? Of course, you just have to know how to do it.

A new approach could work like this:

1. Take your article content and graphics and start a niche blog using WordPress
2. Have an opt-in on this site of the free eBook to build a list and create an affiliate revenue
3. Have Google ads on this site to build revenue on the front end

OK, now you are ready for social media?

4. You can now setup a Facebook page in this same niche using your articles excerpts and snippets from your eBook as content to drive traffic back to the site in the form of likes.
5. This will create front end AdSense revenue and subscribers for the free eBook.
6. You can use the graphics to direct traffic from pinterest. When you run out, simple source more royalty free niche graphics.
7. Open a Twitter account and follow a bunch of like minded people, then tweet excerpts from articles and the eBook to drive traffic back to your offer, again for signups and Google revenue.

You have now positioned yourself as an expert using PLR and social media without really knowing your niche. Take a hot niche in this subject and you can really make an impact. However thats not all.

8. You can also take your eBook and repackage it into a bigger package of related PLR and create an automated webinar with the eBook content. Again positioning yourself as an expert, you can pitch the big package at the end.

If you are wondering how to create a webinar, you could use your blog as well as software such as the evergreen business system and run everything from a page on your blog!

I like a fresh new look on PLR don’t you?

Dave Nicholson and I have been working for a while now and have just released a VERY special offer.

Over our extensive years as PLR publishers (I won’t say how long, but it’s loooong time ), one question we get asked regularly is “What’s the Simplest and Fastest way that I can Utilize my PLR material to start Making Money Online?”

A brand new product created by Dave Nicholson and Omar Martin. Before the launch most will be sending you to the squeeze page in order to drop an affiliate cookie so they get paid when the product goes live on Tuesday. However, there will be no affiliate links in this blog post as I want you to get all the info you need before clicking any link I send you.

Now, before we go any further I want to point out I have worked very close with Omar and Dave on numerous products and affiliate campaigns. In fact Omar was originally one of my students while I worked in the same car plant as Dave. I have also won tons of JV competitions by teaming up with Omar and Dave, and the last product launch I promoted with Omar generated over $100,000 in sales. So it goes without saying that when they work together to launch a product I’m going to support it and promote it heavily, and that’s exactly what I intend to do when WP Affiliate Builder launches at noon EST on the 24th of September.

However, I’m going to try to educate you as much as I can not only about the product but about the topic of recruiting affiliates and affiliate marketing. So throughout this launch I am going to keep you updated with my progress as well as give you tips and try to involve you as much as I can.

So what is WP Affiliate Builder and how can it help you?

WP Affiliate Builder gives you a complete arsenal of tools, software and training that is specifically designed to help you to recruit and equip your affiliate army! If you’ve struggled to get affiliates then that’s about to change.

You get the WordPress Affiliate Builder Software Plugin to enable you to INSTANTLY and SIMPLY build your affiliates page with all the tools needed in minutes.

Plus, you can also get a fantastic WordPress JV Leaderboard Software Plugin that automatically displays and updates your Top Affiliates.

If that isn’t enough, you ALSO get Top Quality Affiliate Video Training, Affiliate eBook Training and Affiliate Audio Training from Dave & Omar!

THIS REALLY IS POWERFUL STUFF!

So the first thing I want to know is if you decide that WP Affiliate Builder is something you need I want to know what sort of bonus would make you buy through my affiliate link? Maybe you need more affiliates, more affiliate training, some 1 on 1 time with me, a jv page review. Whatever it may be leave a comment below and let me know what you want from me and I’ll do my very best to make it happen as I intend to make this my best value bonus offering ever.

I’m going to be in touch with you a lot over the next 10 days or so and I want you to know I intend to educate you as much as possible, if you want to join me on this launch leave your comments below and let me know what you want as a bonus.

Tip! Have you been watching Omar and Dave build a buzz for this launch? It’s been amazing, Omar and Dave seem to have been all over my Facebook feed, my advice if you check them out on Facebook and just watch what they are up to. You will learn a lot by just watching this launch.

Tell me your first name and I will use it to get your attention whenever I
want to. What would you do if you heard someone scream out your name in a crowded shopping mall? Of course – you would turn around and look to see if it was someone you knew.

The truth is… there are psychological factors at play in this situation.

The same thing happens whenever you see your own name in print.

“A person’s first name is arguably the most attention getting word that you can use on any web page or printed material.”
– Skylr

That’s why Personalized URL Marketing came to be such a powerful tool in both online and offline marketing.

Think about the concept of personalization for a moment. Imagine you are receiving an email or even a card in the mail from a friend of yours. They don’t write, “Dear Friend”.

They personalize the note directly to you. They write something like “Hi Joe” or “Dear Mary”. That’s because they are familiar with you and that closeness is felt in part because they know your name and who you are.

How Does This Relate to Internet Marketing?

Have you ever heard the quote that “People buy from other people that they know, like and trust.” ? Well, it’s true and it is your job as a marketer to build relationships with the people that are on your list and let them know that you are someone to “know, like and trust”.

Using personalization is just one way to accomplish this. How else can you do it? Well, you can send thank you cards, birthday cards, hold special customer appreciation events, pick up the phone and reach out to them and so much more.

But since this article is about personalization, let me show you two ways that you can use personalized URLs in your marketing.

Use it with your Email Marketing

Imagine being able to send your entire email list to a Personalized URL? You can, by using the personalization tools inside your autoresponder program and giving your entire list their very own personalized url.

Let’s say you have a guy on your email list and his name is John Smith.

John will receive an email from you with a highly targeted message that lets John know that he can get more information by going to:

www.yourdomaingoeshere.com/John-Smith

Do you think John will be curious about why you created a web page on your website that has his name on it?

You bet he will.

Once John clicks the link, he will be taken to any page you want (landing page, video sales letter, etc.) and John will see a headline and offer that seems to be designed specifically for him and only him.

Your page is literally speaking DIRECTLY to John!

Use a Personalized URL to Increase Your Direct Mail Response

Personalized URL Marketing also works wonders with direct mail campaigns.

Imagine that you specialized in helping independent Jewelry Store Owners to get more customers. You could take a list of prospects and send them a postcard with a personalized headline and url.

Attention: John Smith – Would You Like To Know The Secret To Getting a Flood of New Customers Coming Into Your Jewelry Store?

Go to this special page I created just for you:

www.yourdomaingoeshere.com.com/John-Smith

Whatever your niche is, by adding your prospect’s name to your marketing, you are increasing the likelihood that your prospect will pay attention to your offer and take action by clicking on your links or visiting your website to get more information.

Everything we do as marketers revolves around engaging our customers, providing tremendous value and of course – making more sales because of it.

Isnʼt that what we all strive for?

* If you want to see a demo of what a Personalized URL looks like, check out: http://PurlPlugin.com

When I first started Internet Marketing almost two years ago the very first thing a guru said to me was: “The Money is in The List”, and he went on to explain what that meant. It was obviously possible since he seemed to be doing very nicely out of it. To me it was a total “mish-mash” of things I had no idea how to do.

Squeeze Page, Traffic, Articles, Hosting …. the list went on.

I’d convinced myself it was all too hard, when coincidentally a day or two later, what did I come across in the Warrior Forum? A WSO from a guy telling me “Not to believe all those gurus who say ‘you must have a list to make money’…”. Boy, this was the guy for me. His methods seemed so simple. He had testimonials galore confirming exactly what I suspected – that this was indeed the way to go. Why oh why would anybody bother with all that awful list building stuff when you can easily make money ‘this’ way.

Long story short, a year later and more list-less products than I care to admit, and I was still not making it big online. I started to consider the fact that I may have been wrong, and began beating myself up for not catching on sooner. So I looked at a range of gurus and how they make their money and guys, I want to tell you that I was wrong. I should have listened to that guy on day #1. Who knows where I might be by now.

Anyways as far as I could tell, albeit with some fancy refinements not strictly necessary when you’re starting out, the gurus were ALL making their dough like this:-

1) Put up a Squeeze Page

2) Drive traffic to it, and…

3) Email Market the list

Oh, and 4) Earn the right to ‘Bank large’ if you do it consistently well over time.

There’s Not a Moment to Lose

So if you need a little help to get started in the right direction, then this is what you should be doing – starting now! Keep in mind that this worked for all the gurus. It worked for me, and it will work for you too.

Now in this post of limited length, I can’t cover all that goes into buying a domain and hosting. But in a sentence, you buy your domain from a respected Registrar (Google that and you’ll see loads to choose from). I recommend you buy “yournameandsurname.com” or as close as you can get using a hyphen if necessary. This is going be your business hub and you’ll create a blog around it.

Also, buy hosting from any well known Company. Again Google “Domain Hosting” and the best ones will be on page one. Buy monthly packages if you’re on a budget, but these will be the worst value. If funds permit, buy the year package.

OK, to business. Now this post isn’t about the blog or anything other than what will be your main way forward in this business. So just stay with me on this. The rest will come in time – don’t worry about that.

Build a Squeeze Page

The first thing you have to do is to create a Squeeze Page and display it at your domain. Your Squeeze Page essentially contains 3 things.

i) A great headline

ii) An offer of a high quality free, and

iii) An opt-in form where your visitor can enter their email address to request the free gift and join your list

You can have some bullet points under the headline showing some benefits of your free gift. This helps create a good impression, and most people do this. Remember, your squeeze page is only a single page on which your offer is displayed. It should be simple, uncluttered and have a clear call to action.

Your Free Gift

OK, so your squeeze page is done and online. You now need to create a free gift of value to give away. In the limited space I’ve got here I’ll give guidelines about what to do rather than a fully detailed description.

Basically, you need to create a product. It’s usually going to be an eBook or report for a first attempt, but it can be an MP3 recording or even a video once you get a bit more confident, and it needs to be helpful to people in this niche.

That is, it needs to address the things that people in this niche are talking about and having challenges with. You want to help them with those issues. So how do you find those things out? Simple, just go to the places where people in this niche hang out. Forums and blogs are a great start. Just Google “niche+forums” or “niche+blogs” and tons will come up, but just join a couple of forums and read the blogs to see what people are talking about.

How many have thought of this? You can even type questions directly into Google in the following format:

Niche name FAQ (with or without quotes – the best ones will still be on page 1)

So now you know what is being talked about in this niche. Make a note of the questions. Research the answers from the exact same sources or even by typing the exact questions into Google.

From your research, simply compile a well laid out and researched eBook/report of about 20 – 30 pages in length. Get the guys from Fiverr.com to make up an eCover for the front page, and you are done with the content.

Convert it to PDF format and upload it to your domain to make it available to your visitors.

Traffic

So now you need to start driving traffic to your squeeze page. You’re going to be building a list of subscribers to email market to remember, that’s where your income is coming from.

There’s paid traffic and there’s free traffic. Paid traffic is quick, but costs. Free traffic is slower, but there are no out of pocket expenses.

Most newcomers are reluctant to buy paid traffic. They seem concerned with keeping a cap on costs while they’re still learning, which I kind of understand. But the fact is this is a business, and in business you need to use the right tools. It’s kind of like starting a Taxi business and not wanting to pay for petrol, you get nowhere fast. The way I see traffic, you can pay to send traffic to your offer, get the job done fast, and get on with building a list and earning money. Or you can go for free methods and take longer, which in turn delays your earning capability by the same time frame.

Also, free traffic can be quite time consuming, so using paid traffic is sort of a double whammy. You get your stuff happening faster, AND you get to use the time you save doing something more profitable, like building a second squeeze page or split testing your first squeeze page to get it converting (getting more subscribers) better!

There are many ways to get free traffic to your offer. I’ll list a few but there’s not space here to go into them. They’re all easy to find more information on however.

So, free traffic methods:

1) eBook syndication to Ezine Directories

2) Blog commenting

3) Forum posting/marketing

4) YouTube video marketing

5) Article Marketing

6) Ad Swaps (although you do need a small list to do this)

7) Guest Blogging

Paid traffic methods are many and varied, so I’ll list just a few that I know work well:

1) Facebook ads

2) Solo Ads

3) Ezine Advertising

4) Direct to Site Banner Ads

Clearly, I’ve only talked about ways to drive traffic. I don’t have space in this post to discuss the ins and outs of each method.

Once you have a blog and a list of 1000 subscribers, there are other things you can do to take your list to the next level.

For instance, you can survey your list to better understand their needs and wants, and with the information they provide create an information product or maybe even a software tool. Promote this product using affiliates at 100% commission. This will be a front end product, with up-sells and higher ticket items available once they buy. This way, your list will grow like crazy. Did you get that?

Email Marketing

And then of course there’s the Email Marketing side of things. This is where the fun really starts. But folks, that’s a whole other story, for next time maybe. You now have more than enough to be getting on with as you get started on your new path to success.

Well, in a nutshell folks, that’s it.

Now is the time to get going with those 3 simple steps and get things moving. Get your blog going and let it tell the story of how you turned the corner and moved to higher ground with this simple system.

On your Blog, write useful and helpful content for your subscribers about your learning curve, and tell them about your success. Write things that will help others in your situation and broadcast the link to your posts to your list. Comments and social activity will follow, and not far behind it the snowball effect, and success, will show up!

That should just about do it folks. Thanks for being with me, and I really hope you get something useful from this post.

My best to you,

I think most of us have at one time or another bought traffic. Over the years I have bought tons of traffic from just about every source available. Most of the time I have lost money and I even managed to get myself banned from Google Adwords and Facebook ads simply for promoting an IM related type of product. It was probably a blessing in disguise anyway as I never seemed to be able to get my ads to show a profit.

Because of this I’ve learned to generate my own traffic, in fact 99.9% of the traffic I receive to all of my websites is completely free. However, over the last few months I have been having a play around with one form of paid traffic that I have actually managed to turn a profit from, do you want to know what this traffic source is?

Solo Ads.

Just in case you are wondering what a solo ad is it’s just a way to get someone to mail your offer to their list. You pay them to deliver X amount of clicks to your offer. This is usually an opt-in page where you collect subscribers, if done right you can build your list very fast indeed.

Now I want to point out I am no expert when it comes to buying Solo Ad’s but I want to share with you a few things I have learned.

Take things slow at first.
Don’t go spending thousands of dollars on clicks when you are starting out, take things slow and get used to how things work before you go spending crazy amounts of money on ads because if you do this wrong you can lose a lot of money very quickly indeed.

Buy ads in small chunks.
If you want to buy 1000 clicks buy them in 20 sets of 50 clicks from different providers instead of buying 1000 clicks from one vendor, by doing this you will minimize the risk of getting scammed from an unscrupulous vendor. Not only that but you will receive more traffic. You see most Solo Ad vendors over deliver by around 10-20 clicks. So if you bought 1000 clicks you could expect to receive 1020 clicks, but if you buy 50 clicks you can expect 60-70 clicks. Multiply that by 20 and you have 1200 – 1400 clicks, a lot more for you money.

Don’t expect Solo Ad lists to convert like a regular list.
One thing I noticed was the fact my Solo Ad list didn’t convert as well as my regular list(s) did. Without detailed testing there is no sure way to determine why but my guess is a lot of the people on Solo Ad lists are freebie seekers who are getting passed from Solo Ad provider to Solo Ad provider. Just remember that any subscribers you gain from Solo Ad’s are not likely to convert as well as a regular subscriber.

Test test test test, then test some more.
The only true way to get any form of paid traffic to work is by testing. You should know your metrics so you can work out how much it costs to gain each subscriber. As you can expect to pay $50+ for 100 clicks you need to be sure you are at the very least getting most of that $50 back. So know how your squeeze page converts, how many people will buy from your funnel and how many people will buy from your recommendations. This is something I wasn’t doing in the early days and something I quickly realized I needed to do so I could be sure I wasn’t wasting money.

Only use recommended sources.
This is the big one, just because someone can deliver 100 clicks doesn’t mean the traffic is genuine. There are a lot of scammers out there who will deliver false clicks or worse still take your money and run. Even if you use a reputable source such as Safe Swaps be sure to research each provider and as I said earlier only buy in small chunks. For the record the only source I have purchased Solo Ad’s from so far is Safe Swaps, my advice would be to start there and do your research before buying any ads.

You must have a killer free offer that converts.
First of all most Solo Ad providers will only promote free offers, in fact I quickly found out that getting people to promote a paid offer is almost impossible. So if you want to start paying for Solo Ad’s make sure you have a killer squeeze page that converts well. You should be looking at converting at least 40% of your traffic into subscribers. This is the free offer I am sending Solo Ad traffic to at the moment.

You must have a killer sales funnel that converts.
As most Solo Ad providers will only promote free offers we need to try to monetize our site from our sales funnel so make sure you have a killer funnel in place that converts. This usually means making sure that any upsells are directly related to your free offer. You don’t want to have people opt-in for a traffic product only to upsell them with an eBay related product.

TIP! If you can just earn enough to pay for your ads or even run at a slight loss from your funnel you’ve cracked it as this means you are building a list for free or at a very low cost, now you just need to ramp things up.

Here’s my sales funnel in all it’s glory

Free Offer – Traffic Package

There are lots of ways that marketers can create a steady income using the Internet. The majority of these methods take time to learn and master.

As an affiliate marketer we can promote other people’s products and receive a commission usually between 50% and 100% of the product cost. Now it took me a while to understand why marketers would give so much commission on their products. However if you think about it the higher the commission generally more affiliates will be driving traffic to the product and the product owner can monetize this traffic on the back end.

Some benefits of being a product creator and owner rather than just an affiliate are –

It helps with your branding

Its a growing market

You can make more money

You are in control

Traffic is driven by affiliates

You are creating a list of buyers

No SEO, Google, or advertising worries

Opens up JV opportunities

Lets look at each of the benefits more closely.

Branding – When you have your own products, people will start to look for you by name, knowing the value you give. You start to become an authority in the industry. Often this can lead to customers buying every single product you ever create.

Growing Market – During hard times, and periods of recession, people will often look at ways to supplement their income. With the rapid growth and accessibility of the internet, lots of these will turn to the web looking for training and digital products.

Make More Money – Being an affiliate marketer alone, will never make you as much money as being a product creator and an affiliate marketer. Imagine the scenario of making a good living selling somebody else s product for a commission, only for the affiliate program to stop! Your income is cut off over night..

In Control – You can decide what direction your business can take, you do not rely on the skill or lack of it from others.

Traffic From Affiliates – When you have a good catalog of products that you have created, you should also have built up and army of affiliates eager to sell your high value, high converting products. This can mean sales still coming in from the efforts that you made years ago.

List Of Buyers – Every time somebody buys one of your products they should automatically be placed on your buyers list. This opens up more opportunities, as you can now sell them affiliate products, with the chance to make more money, win JV prizes, and all those hungry buyers will still be there to sell your next product too.

SEO, Google – With a list of affiliates, as well as a list of buyers, this business model means you should never have to worry about traditional methods the affiliates use to drive traffic. Such as worrying about the next Google update, or advertising.

JV Opportunities – Once you have your own product created this can open up a whole new world of opportunities. You can leverage your products, for example you could ask another marketer to place your product on their thank you page and you can do the same to them.
You can break your product down, and use it for other purposes such as bonuses when you’re selling other people’s products to your growing list of buyers

A good product creation business model will have a low-priced initial offer and this product will offer immense value. Over delivering on this product will make your buyers feel like they have a bargain, and will be tempted to check out your higher priced products looking for the same value.

This is monetizing on the backend.

I know, in the past I have bought a product for seven dollars and have been mightily impressed, I have then gone on and bought a $2000 coaching program from the same marketer, I was in the buying mode, I knew the quality of the work the marketer offered, plus when marketers offer a no nonsense, money back guarantee this minimised the risk, and I must say it’s the best $2000 I have ever spent.

Before creating your first digital product, you need to perform detailed market research to find a niche that has hungry buyers, and also one that you are interested in. You do not always have to have experience, as this is something that we can learn from others, and spending a few weeks researching will make you an expert compared to your buyers. We can learn from old products we may have purchased, we can learn from purchased PLR products, from youtube, google, and we can approach experts in the industry.

However, never copy the work of others. We need to create unique, original products that your buyers will love. Your reputation is an asset, so do not smear it right from the offset.

When planning your digital product, I would recommend going for a residual income model, whereby you can offer content on a monthly basis, so you get paid month after month. Affiliates love this model to as they can promote your products once and get paid every month.

I would recommend anybody who is an affiliate marketer, or a wannabe. To look hard at the product creation business model. Can you name any of the top marketers in the business that do not have their own products?

There are not many, and next time you’re at a party, or an event rather than introducing yourself like this ‘ hello my name is John Doe and I’m an affiliate marketer’ you can introduce yourself as ‘ John Doe – digital product creator ‘

You may remember this blog post where I stated that your most important asset wasn’t your list, which is what most people think, but the connections you make with other marketers. Without the right online connections you will struggle as there are so many things that need to be done, but how do we make these all important connections, especially when just starting out?

By far the best way to make connections with other marketers is face to face and this is usually done at a live event. While we can build relationships online nothing beats shaking someone’s hand and introducing yourself face to face, this is a connection that is impossible to make online. By attending live events I have managed to form solid relationships with some top marketers that has enabled me to transform my business.

There are events happening almost on a daily basis and it shouldn’t be hard to find one near you. However, there are some basic rules you should follow when attending a live event to make sure you gain the most from it.

1. Work Out What You Want to Get From The Event.
It’s very important you work out what you want to get from any event you attend, this will determine the type of event you should go to. Do you want to learn? Do you want to network? Do you want to gain more JV partners? Do you want to connect with potential clients or gain new customers?

2. Connect, Connect, Connect.
Make sure you connect with as many people as possible, shake hands, introduce yourself and start talking. If I could offer one big tip here it is that most of the action happens in the bar each evening, don’t spend it in your room when you could be spending it making those all important connections.

3. Don’t be Pushy.
If you have a pending launch the worst thing you can do is talk about it and bring it up at every opportunity as you will come across as desperate. My advice is to leave the ‘will you promote my product’ talk at home and just concentrate on building relationships, then when you get home you can always contact anyone you’ve formed a relationship with and start from there.

4. Learn as Much as Possible About The People You Want to Connect With.
If you want to get someones attention and you know they are going to be at an event learn something about them before you leave and take some notes with you. Also, if you see a marketer at an event and you don’t know much about them but want to have a chat jump on your phone and spend 5 minutes doing some research, believe me if you mention one of their products you will have their attention. Take this introduction for example. “Hi John, I’m xxxx, I must say your product Simple Traffic Solutions is fantastic, it taught me a lot of traffic tactics I didn’t know, I especially loved the module about gaining JV partners, it helped a lot” Now how could I not be impressed by that introduction?

5. Don’t be The Event Jerk.
There’s one at every event. They hassle you, stalk you to try to catch you on your own, drink too much and act like a fool, talk about nothing but themselves and are generally just annoying. If you’ve never seen the event jerk perhaps it’s you. Don’t be the event jerk.

6. It’s Not About You.
So you made a million off your last launch, you came first in that big JV competition, or you just had Facebook buy your latest app for 17 billion. Who cares? It’s not about you, it’s about what you can do for others, if you want to build those all important connections and form long term business relationships leave the ego at the airport and concentrate on what you can do to help others. If you get this right you will go home with a ton of connections from potential business partners, clients, etc.

7. Not Everyone is a Good Fit For Your Business.
You can’t do business with everyone in the room so concentrate on the people who will give you the time you give them. Don’t force yourself on people as it will usually push them away. Understand that not everyone will want to connect with you and don’t worry if someone gives you the brush off, it happens.

8. Humor is The Ultimate Connector.
This usually happens at the bar and it usually happens in the early hours, some of the best friendships and long term business partnerships have been formed while ‘having a laugh’. If you can have a laugh with someone and forget the marketing talk you will form a far better connection.

9. Events Are About Mutual Benefits.
If you ‘get this’ you will go far, remember that the connections you form are the building blocks to a successful business, but also remember that other marketers are also building their businesses too. If someone reaches out to you listen to what they want from you and what you can do for them because if you don’t you may find no one wants to know you when you get home.

10. After The Event Keep it Going.
Once you get home make sure you follow up with any connections you have made as now is the time to build on the foundations you have built. You should also begin to implement the strategies you have learned (you will learn lots) and to above all make sure that the event was something that can help you take your business forward.

The Ultimate Event!

If you’ve never been to an event yet I am delighted to announce that Omar Martin and myself have put together The Coolest Event Ever. This will be a pitch free event with tons of activities to help you build those all important relationships with like minded individuals. If you want to do something to expand your business then this is it.

There will be 6,7 and even 8 figure marketers at this event, all who will be approachable to help you build your business. It’s not every day I am willing to fly half way round the world to attend an event but this one is different and I’d love to sit with over a coffee (or a beer) to discuss how I could help build your business. This is something I didn’t have when starting out and I know if you can make the commitment to attend it could change your life.

The event takes place in Orlando, FL, May 16th – 18th and there are still a limited amount of tickets available. To find out more click here.

If you are attending and want to hook up please let me know by leaving a comment below and whatever you do make sure attending events becomes part of your business routine.

I have quite a few partially written blog posts sitting on my hard drive and in the drafts section of WordPress, I have even more title ideas sitting on my iPhone. Maybe it’s time I spent a full day getting up to date with my blog posts.

MindMaps.
Have you ever started a MindMap and never got round to finishing it? I know I have, I have so many ideas that I usually spend some time putting my ideas into a MindMap, however sometimes the ideas stay there, perhaps it’s time I had a look at them all and see if I can get some ideas from them.

Projects With Other Marketers.
I have tons of joint projects going on with other marketers, the trouble is a lot of these projects are going nowhere. We can spend a couple of hours on Skype drawing up a detailed plan, or even have multiple Skype or face to face meetings then that’s as far as it goes. I really need to take stock of the projects I have planned with other marketers and get more products released.

Sales Pages.
While I don’t have too many unfinished pages I do have a few sales pages that could do with a spruce up. Maybe some new graphics here, a video added there, some new testimonials added, etc.

Ideas That Are Still Just Ideas.
As stated at the beginning of this post, this is my (and I guess most peoples) biggest problem, I have so many ideas that I don’t do anything with them. Again, this is something I need to look at and see how many ideas I have had that I have done nothing with.

Unfinished Products.
This is a big issue, I’ll buy a domain, order graphics, make a start and then that’s as far as it goes. I have done this so many times that it’s not funny.

Outdated Products.
I have quite a few products that could do with an update. Maybe new graphics, training videos, updated material, etc. All it would take is half a day to update a site in most cases and I could then re-launch my product. This is something I am going to address ASAP.

To Do Lists.
I have an app on my iPhone that reminds me when I need to start working on a project, the amount of times I have just marked the reminder to be done at a later date is unreal. Again, this is something I need to address.

On a positive note, once I really get going with a product idea nothing stops me and I never get sidetracked, maybe this is how I can keep churning out new products constantly. Some of the best advice I can give you if you can relate to any of the info in this blog post is to always be working on your next product and make sure you don’t work on too much stuff at once, as this is how stuff doesn’t get done.

So there you have it. My faults laid bare for all to see, maybe you can relate to this, maybe not, I’d love to know what are you guilty of not finishing, and why do you think we procrastinate so much?

Or is it just me
