I have been making (some) money online now for a few years, however I have never attained the level of income that I have been aiming for and, to be brutally honest, the main reason for this is me. I fell into the same old trap that many people who start out in this business also do, I got side-tracked by every ‘next big thing’ and never consistently applied myself to building a sustainable business online.

I’ll also admit that I was looking for the easy way to make money online and of course with many product creators out there promising ‘push button’ success I found that I was quickly emptying my bank account on products that were never going to help me to create an income that I could rely on month to month.

The good news however is that during this period I began to realize that there were some marketers out there who were just as interested in helping others to succeed as they were in living the ‘Internet marketing’ lifestyle. They didn’t have the pictures of the million dollar houses or the garage full of supercars to show me; however what they did have were real addresses and telephone numbers which they weren’t afraid to share.

And, of course, they were also making enough money through their businesses to be doing it on a full time basis and living very comfortably while doing so. As I got smarter about how I needed to work on my own business I realized that if I spent more time actually working and listening to guys like John Thornhill I was far more likely to learn something useful than I ever would have been in the past by buying the next greatest product to come to market.

So when John announced that he was going to create a One Month Mentor program to share a step by step method for creating an Internet marketing business I knew that if the price was right I would be signing up, and when that email came through to tell me it was live I pretty much clicked the link and signed up within a couple of minutes (I think I even watched the video after I’d paid).

Having recently finished the course I can say that I have absolutely no regrets (well except maybe that I can’t yet afford John’s Partnership to Success program!) as I learned more in that month than I think I have in all the time that I have been online. Interestingly there weren’t any really ‘big secrets’ in what John showed me, it was more about his method of teaching and the way in which he shows how it all comes together that really impressed me and also helped me to fill in some gaps in my own knowledge.

Although the first few days were just a refresher on things I already knew it was when it started to break down product creation that I really began to see the light, John simply made each of the steps necessary to create a new product and get it onto ClickBank so clear cut that in some cases I found myself shaking my head at how easy it can be when you have the right tools to hand (and also a set of goals and timescales to work to).

I’ll admit I did take a little longer than one month to finish all the training John has put together (for a number of personal reasons) but I am proud to say that I did complete it and have a new product on the ClickBank marketplace. Incredibly it is already being promoted by affiliates even though I have not done a huge amount of additional work to advertise it myself so I am confident that once my own marketing efforts get some traction that the sales will start to ramp up.

Overall I must say I am really pleased I followed John’s program and I am already starting to map out my next product having had a number of good ideas during the creation of the first one. In fact while I was relaxing and having a great time my business brought in over $10,000 and that was with no email promo’s or product launches or other forms of advertising going on. I could have set up a few email promo’s to go out while I was away and earned even more but that was the last thing on my mind. It’s a dream lifestyle and I still have to pinch myself sometimes as I really am living the dream. I want to stress I am not trying to show off here, I just want to point out that this is a lifestyle anyone can live. Yes, anyone! Just a few years ago I was working in a factory so if I can do it anyone can.

So how did I earn the figures above?

I earned it by selling information. I have said many many times that creating and selling your own information products is the key to your success. Once you learn how to create an information product that sells it’s just a case of duplicating what you have learned to create even more products. I am not going to deny it takes hard work at first but once you get things going it becomes easier as your business grows.

In fact I found it extremely hard in the early days as I had no one to turn to and had to learn things the hard way. I struggled for about 3 years before things started to happen but because of this I know what it takes to build a profitable online business and that puts me in an incredible position to teach others how I have achieved my success. As with many would-be internet marketers I have spent quite a lot of time and money chasing the internet dream.

I am a genuine newbie! Everywhere I turn, I come up against the wall of my lack of knowledge and experience.

I think it is fair to say that quite a lot of the downloaded information is fine  – up to the point where phrases like “just start a blog” or “just put up a website” or “just find a niche”  are found. Quite – but how do I do this?

And that is when everything comes to a halt – I do not have the basic knowledge to do this – and nobody is explaining how.

Two things are constantly repeated though – get a mentor and get your own product.

However, the one thing I have learned, by trial and error, is to recognize those people who are the “good guys” – the ones that give a lot back, and who will go the extra mile in helping people.

John Thornhill is one of those guys.

I have to admit that I have bought some of his products before which are still lying on my hard drive, for the most part, untouched (but not for long now).

I was in the middle of an internet marketing project I had been working on, just finishing an eBook after several months of writing it, when I suddenly found myself stuck!  The ebook was created, but where did I go from here?

I had been buying and selling items on eBay since I came back to the UK from the US at the latter end of 2004. My house was full with boxes of health and beauty and DVDs from wholesalers. The daily chore of going to the post office and sometimes waiting for up to an hour to post my items was wearing thin.

The saying “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime” is the most appropriate summarization of John Thornhill’s Coaching program.  I literally learned how to create a marketable product from conception to final distribution.  I know with certainty that I can create another eBook with the knowledge that I have acquired over the last 16 weeks.

The coaching program was excellent and well worth the money.  I have spent literally thousands of dollars on other programs with significantly less results.

I could personally write a book on how great the program was, but it would be giving away some of his secrets! Seriously, one advantage over other programs is the support.  The technical support was excellent.  Daniel, John’s associate, always responded back to my questions quickly.  John’s support was excellent also.  It amazed me that I would actually obtain an answer to questions in a timely manner considering that I am in the US and John is overseas.

To me this is a key point.  Several programs I joined provided information on a weekly basis, but on an inconsistent basis.  You never knew what day you were obtaining the information.  John always had the training available on Mondays like he promised. I looked forward to returning from work on Monday evenings and starting my work for week. I can not emphasize how wonderful this was. I had a few delays due to hurricane Ike and my loss of power, but the information was waiting for me so I had no concerns.

The workload was divided into doable chunks.  The instructions were so easy to follow.  The first week, I had a challenge with the videos playing, but once I downloaded them to my machine, I did not have a problem at all.  Video training makes it almost impossible to make mistakes.  I could pause the videos and follow along exactly.  It was easy because I used exactly the programs/tools the John recommended.

In some programs, you pay a fee up front, and then there are many so called “Optional” additional fees, you end up paying a lot more than you anticipated.  You also feel like you were deceived.  This was totally not the case with this program. I honestly can not think of one additional expense that was not needed.  I was impressed with the way John provided tools that were free.  I had never heard of any of them.  In fact, I had the paid versions of each. The free ones were just as good, if not better that the paid ones!

We also obtained invaluable information and great discounts from the vendors that he recommended.  I absolutely love  my website.  I could not have written my salesletter or eBook without the additional eBooks that were provided. In the sea of eBooks, these provided just great information.

I never had a total picture of how a salespage, website, autoresponder and followup emails worked together.  This knowledge alone, was worth the price of the course.

I’m telling you a little about me so that you can see that when it comes to internet marketing I am indeed a complete beginner.  In fact, my two kids think the idea of my having a successful eBay/internet business is hilarious!  [Once day this summer my son (college, techie kid) looked over my shoulder to my laptop and said, “Mom, that’s not html your editing, is it?!” with awe and horror in his voice.  I proudly said, “Of course, do YOU know how to do this?  I wasn’t about to tell him that the code had come from Daniel, John’s technical assistant, and I was following a step by step video from John.]
