Here’s a fun way to get a ton of traffic to your blog. The idea is to get 100 people to join in and help generate 100 comments for every one of the contributors latest blog posts and also to get them bookmarked by each other.
The idea was thought up between Jacinta Dean and Steve King, both of which are former students of My Masterclass Program. I thought the idea was so good I simply had to let you know about it. You do not have to be a Masterclass student to contribute to this, all you need is a blog.
If you would like to contribute to it and would like to add your details to this page simply reply to this post with your details, but before you do I recommend that you install the following Plugins:
DoFollow, CommentLuv and KeywordLuv
I also recommend the following plugins:
AddToAny: Share/Bookmark/Email Button, this will enable you to bookmark the blog posts that you visit.
WordPress Thread Comments: will allow you reply to comments, and it sends the Commentator an email with your reply.
Subscribe To Comments: This plugin will send you an email for every follow up comment is left for the posts.
Most of these plugins can be installed through your admin panel, however for KeywordLuv it is better to visit the site and follow the instructions.
If you donβt have your own blog you can still be a part of this by visiting the blogs listed below and leaving a comment for them, you could also click on the bookmarking links and send a link to your favorite sites. I know that everyone will appreciate it, and just think of the knowledge you could gain.
Another one of my Students Barry Wells has also created a twitter list of contributors and their tweets which can be found at: http://twitter.com/barry_wells/blog-contributors
If you want more information about this I recommend you check out Jacinta’s Blog as she started the ball rolling but all I need from you is a link to your blog below and your commitment to comment on each blog you see in the reply section below.
Remember, this isn’t going to cost you anything and it will get more traffic to your blog, plus it should be fun

August 6, 2010This seems to be a cool challenge. As we all know, generating traffic is somewhat boring and can really drain ourselves. But by having something fun and cool to generate traffic, it would be great.
For those who started early doing this, they already have an advantage. Will check this out from time to time to monitor the progress.
Thanks John,
Gary

What a great idea to get free traffic for all participants, I have decided to have a go. It can become quite a chore just driving traffic to your sites so if this will help me then I’m all for it!

August 6, 2010Hi John,
It is my understanding that backlinks from the same IP are useless and can actually hurt you in the search engines. This means that if the links are coming from the same hosting company as the site you are linking to chances are they aren’t helping at all.
If this wasn’t the case then we would all just install 100 links to our own sites. I just thought I’d mention this since most of your students including me, use D9 Hosting.
Its worth looking into.

August 6, 2010I hear ya Omar,
I’m no expert at this but what I do know is it’s not just about back links. I know because of this everyone involved is receiving more traffic and that’s good enough for me.

August 6, 2010Hi John

August 6, 2010Hi John
This is a great oppertunity.
I took part in your masterclass last year
and again this year. I have fallen a little behind.
So taking part in an organised blog commenting challenge
is just the thing I need.
It will complement nicely my recent start
at publishing with ezinearticles.com.
Thank you John and Jacinda and Steve
Best wishes

August 6, 2010Hi John
Thanks for taking the time out before your hols to spread the word about the challenge…it’s much appreciated.
Omar has a point about the linking but it’s much more about interaction with other people, building relationships and generally getting yourself out there. We all know that when you first start out online it can be a struggle and a little bit insular or even lonely at times…hopefully the challenge will help make it a little easier and more fun.
There’s also a sense of achievement at the end of it too…not to mention picking up some great tips from other bloggers when you go blog-hopping.
Talking of which, Sally Neill posted a great piece which talks about the etiquette of blog-hopping. These are not hard and fast rules, just a little guide to help make things easy:
http://sallyneill.com/blogging-tips/five-commandments-of-blog-hopping/
Have a great holiday John…I always recommend a bit of golf to help relax
Cheers

August 6, 2010Hi John,
I agree with Sally, it is getting mentioned in quite a few places which can only be good not for just getting contributors but also general readers as well.
Just writing my contribution to get the ball rolling.
Although I do agree with Omar, it is not all about search engine rankings, it is about building your own reputations as well as developing relationships with people you wouldn’t necessarily have known about.
This can only do good for those that get involved.
Many thanks
Simon

August 6, 2010Hi John, what a great idea! Well done to Jacinta and Steve. The common theme throughout the above replies seems to be blog-hopping. I can’t help thinking that this will help each and everyone of us in ways that might not be obvious to begin with.

August 7, 2010Hi John,
Good work getting involved in the challenge, I got involved last week and have already had some fantatics comments on my interactive blog post: http://www.steve-wilkins.com/technology-is-changing-and-so-should-your-business/
I thought this blog post would benefit anyone visiting my blog as we are not just commenting but sharing valuable free online resourves with each other that can help our businesses grow for FREE.
I hope many more people get involved and leave their links and hopefully in a few weeks everyone will have a massive list of free resources that they can use to automate and expand their own online businesses.
Regards,
Steve Wilkins.

August 8, 2010I’m with Simon; the relationships being forged over the challenge has to be the most exciting part of this for me!
I was one of the first on the challenge, and I have to admit I was feeling a little down at the time I wrote my contributing post. But I wrote it because I knew there would be those out there that would probably be going through, or have gone through what I was feeling in that moment. And the comments of encouragement and advice that I’ve received has just been nothing short of amazing.
I’ve never taken so much action online till now, and I”m very grateful to be a part of this!

Jacinta and Steve have come up with a real fun idea. It sounds a great team building idea too. I have installed all the plugins you recommend and have quickly created a humorous post on my non-D9 blog to get me started:

August 10, 2010Hi,This is a great idea. I hope it is open to blogs other than WordPress. I find it so easy to create Blogger blogs on the fly that I do it for all my websites and find it really good for SEO. Google of course owns Blogger so they visit constantly. You can set up a blog in a matter of minutes and get results quickly.JM.

August 10, 2010Great idea! I’m diving head first into this whole realm myself, so it’s good to be able to read all of the blogs and see what is being done by so many people. Keep up the good work!

August 11, 2010Thought I’d just leave a little FYI for you and all your readers in regards to using threaded comments. First up, they’re great, but second is since WordPress 2.7 that has been a particular feature built in, resulting in no plugin being needed! — Too many plugins can slow your site down! — But sadly you can’t take advantage unless you’re using a compatible theme, there are plenty available on WordPress.org which you could look at though?
(Just use the Tag Filter, and check ‘threaded-comments’ then search, and it’ll show you all the themes that work with this feature!)

August 13, 2010Hi John,
Thought I would pop by and check out who is here!
As of right now we have 85 people that have officially entered the challenge. All their contributing blog posts can be found here:
http://creatingmybusinessonline.com/100-blog-comment-challenge/
We are getting there. Only 15 spots to go. And then all we have to do is visit everyone’s dedicated blog posts, have a read, make some comments, meet some new people and socially book mark each post as we go! π― And all before the deadline of the 31st of August for us to all get 100 individual comments on a dedicated blog post each!!
Boy is that a tongue twister!! π
The feedback I have been getting has been amazing and truthfully the contributors are a mic from everywhere which is AWESOME. It isn’t just MC students. The word has definitely gotten around!
Hope everyone is having a great time with this. My eyes are hanging out of my head and my hubby and bubba think my hands are glued to my keyboard at the moment, however I think this has been one of the best bimbo ideas I have had!! π
Hope you are having a great holiday.
Cheers

August 27, 2010Hi,
What a fabulous idea this is. As a “newbie”, I have been wondering how in the world I would ever have people commenting on my blog site. I thought I would ask a question though, if I could..not sure if this is the right platform for questions?
All of the plugins mention word press and all I have right now is a blog site. I have word press, but don’t really know how to set it up. I’m working on it now
Thanks folks.

August 30, 2010Okay, you’re probably already tired of hearing this but I will say it all the same: Great idea! Though I prefer to go easy on the plugins I’ve set them all up except the AddtoAny plugin since I’m not sure whether or not it will conflict with Sociable plugin. Feedback/advice on this greatly appreciated.
