I must admit I have been sick of receiving emails from people promoting products left right and center and I know full well these people have no experience with the product they are promoting. It definitely makes one start to ignore emails from some.
Good suggestion on doing a follow up series regarding a product as well. I seriously need to get my but into gear on creating a newsletter. I have been a bit lazy in that department. I was meant to be doing that before I made a silly bimbo comment about a challenge, maybe now I can get back to it! ๐
Thank you for the hint on focusing on one product at a time and educating our subscribers. I think that is an excellent suggestion. I will be making note of that to remember when creating my newsletter.

I remember you telling this ages ago for one of your promos, and sure enough – I got onto your leader board with a list 10% the size of one of the bigger marketers who promoted.
And yeah – I beat the big marketer in sales
As well as the large commission cheque I appreciated the bottle of bubbly you sent to your top promoters ๐
I’m mentioning this because It does show that when we listen to you – our income increases…
I didn’t make anything like the commissions you made from this promo – but by comparison to the difference in list size, I had a similar percentage of sales with 30% coming from my first email, 20% from the 2nd and a massive 50% of sales from my 3rd mention!!
So this is me confirming what you teach works very well
(obviously it helps that we do tend to only promote good products of value to our readers and not jump onto every big launch that we don’t believe in just for the money!!)

Another great marketing tip and so very true about following up a few times in a week on one great product rather than sending many emails about several different products.
Personally nothing annoys me more than when a marketer promotes several different products in one week, he/she may as well be saying ”the first promotion wasn’t that good so try this, then this” and so on!
I rarely promote other marketers products with the exception of yours, Lee Mcintyre’s and AJ Silvers unless they are really something special and will benefit my subscribers.
I’ll be implementing your follow-up techniques though and will let you know how I get on.

Very good points about following up with your list. Not only should you do it for affiliate promos but also if you are launching your own product.
You do make a good point about not just sending out one email and expecting a large amount of sales…yea, maybe if you have a half mil mailing list you can do that, but if you only have a few hundred or a few thousand more than one or two emails is best.
If you’re subscribed to any of the BIG marketers (not that you aren’t big) just watch what they do…there is always a method to their mailings.

Thank you for creating this video sharing your expertise with us, I am amazed at the difference the follow up emails made to your bottom line. I would have thought that sending a few follow up emails in a short space of time and about the same product would have got people annoyed. But obiously it is the approach you used, and the emphasis on a great offer and the urgency to buy before it was taken down, that encouraged more sales. And of course the trust and respect that you have built with your subscribers would have played a huge part in this too. We can all learn so much from following you.

Great post and really sound advice. So many people beleive affiliate promotion is finding any product and trying to sell it. The key to affiliate success is simply promoting good quality products that you make a buzz around.
Contacting the product creator and asking for a discount price for my list has worked well in the past for me and I recommend anyone to do it. If you think about it the worst they can say is No.
Now when you get a yes, your list will love you for it as they will know they are getting such a great deal from you.

I have to admit I dont follow up nearly as well as I should because
I am wary of being accused of SPAM.
What I often do though is follow up using another topic, say a blog post and then try to weave the offer into that.
I havent quite mastered it as well as many but am getting there (hopefully)

September 20, 2010I usually don’t bother to watch videos but since it was yours, I took a moment to have a gander.
I was once stuck in the send one time rut. I didn’t really really want to burden my list members with too many emails. But then it hit me, if they are a burden then I shouldn’t send them at all.
Now my thinking is, “if it is worth sending once, its worth sending three times”

I always enjoy your videos and usually receive great advice from you. You are only one of a handful of people I haven’t clicked “unsubscribe” on. I usually do get irritated when people show me when and where they are on vacation but with you I don’t for some reason. I have always found you to be trustworthy and the real deal. Outside of the so-called gurus showing me their vacations what irritates me the most is when they roll out their new cars. Nothing makes me hit unsubscribe quicker-so just remember if you ever decide to rub my nose in the new Lamborghini, I’m history-lol!

Thanks for the great video on the importance of email follow-ups. Being fickle-minded, not many consumers will make their purchases when first approached. They need to be constantly reminded of the plus points of the products that are being sold to them.
With Aweber, it’s so simple to create an email campaign. Just preload the follow-up emails and schedule them on auto-pilot.

I am totally with you on this. Especially lately when there is nothing short of poor products on the market lately. You know my take on fully automated products and the promotions going on at the moment. This is the reason why I won’t promote.

I’m actually right in the middle of sending a long stream of emails to my list promoting a test launch of my product. I have been emailing them about every other day with new videos, bits of value and reminders that this is a special promo.
In just about a week and a half of sending, I’ve already made over $2k from just the product.
There’s no doubt that the power is in follow-up emails and giving value. And it’s amazing that I don’t receive too many unsubscribes either.

Nice timomg for me with this post, and a very powerful meesage in your post!
At the moment `i`m writing a report called ‘The 22 Step Listbuilding System’, about how to implement just 22 follow up messages after initial sale over a twelve month period, giving massive free value and great profits from promos!
But I must admit I never thought to have a follow up sequence for an affiliate promo, I love it!
Anyway great post as usual, and I`ll fire you a copy of the report via email when it`s done, the only thing is I don`t know whether to add loads to it and make it a full blown product on Clickbank, or just make it a 20+ page viral report?

As you know, I also use that method whenever possible, and I can personally say that it works EXCELLENT and it is more beneficial for everybody. Your subscribers know that they are getting an AWESOME deal, and you are making excellent commissions, even better in this case as they are recurring commissions!
But the main point to me, and I’m sure it is yours too, is the fact that you are providing your subscribers with an excellent quality product that you personally believe will help them succeed.

Following up on subscribers is mostly on overlooked topic. It is a known fact that most of the people do not buy the first time they see a product and need to be warmed up and educated about what PROBLEMS IT CAN SOLVE FOR THEM.
